Purpose of the Program

The mission of the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Western Illinois University as a member of the Illinois Entrepreneurship and Small Business Growth Association is

“To provide professional guidance for business growth”.

The Illinois SBDC at WIU strives to assist in starting, sustaining, growing and transitioning small businesses in all aspects of business activities. Certified Business Advisors conduct confidential face-to-face and online advising sessions at the request of regional small business owners and managers. All client advising is at no charge to the client. Group training and education sessions are conducted on site and online to assist persons interested in starting and growing small businesses.

Utilizing resources from the Small Business Administration, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Western Illinois University, and the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs the Illinois SBDC at WIU is the premier small business advising center in West Central and Northwest Illinois.
