Purpose of the Program

Provides assistance to rural and underserved residents and organizations to assist in  increasing access to care through scholarships, loan repayment and grants to organizations. The Center is also the Primary Care Office for the State of Illinois and is responsible for evaluating all areas in the state to determine if they are federal or state health professional shortage areas (HPSA). In addition, statute mandates that the Department of Public Health create a Center for Rural Health.
