A Foundation for Sustainable Rural Community Development

American Country Life Association

“The American Country Life Association occupies a unique place among the national agricultural institutions. When it was formed it was to be a national forum on matters affecting rural life, a medium of expression for ideas concerning the human aspects of the agriculture of America. Its membership is made up of working farmers and farm leaders, of educators, of rural school teachers, of agricultural scientists, and agricultural technicians, and of rural ministers, who are seeking through the interchange of ideas to develop the basis for common objectives and a common understanding. It is their hope that thus their influence will radiate throughout the country and generate, through democratic processes, an intelligent public opinion that will create and sustain sound national agricultural policies and rural welfare programs” (Wunderlich, 2003, p. 78-79).
