Roger Brown is manager of the Illinois Value-Added Sustainable Development Center, a unit of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University. A major role is research and outreach related to creation of new business or improving existing business in rural, agricultural based communities. In addition, Mr. Brown teaches in the College of Business and Technology and pursues research and outreach activities in renewable energy. Through a grant, he developed a statewide wind monitoring program to develop a better understanding of wind energy potential.

Employment Experience
Brown has extensive experience in the energy industry including leadership roles in domestic and international operations with a major petroleum corporation. He has also served in advisory roles for not-for-profit organizations, addressing issues such as strategic planning and financial forecasting. He has an M.B.A. from Western Illinois University (1999) and a B.S. in Geology from the University of Idaho (1974).
