Lori Sutton is manager for the Data Analysis and Technical Assistance (DATA) Center for the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs. Sutton coordinates activities for the three service units located under the DATA Center (Rural Economic Technical Assistance Center (RETAC), Business and Geographic Information Services, and the Survey and Data Analysis).She has a MA in Economics from Western Illinois University (1993), and a BS in Agriculture (1991).
Employment Experience
Sutton has been with the Institute since 1994. Prior to working at the Institute, Sutton was a planner for a regional planning commission in Illinois conducting public meetings, preparing grant applications, and working with federal, state, and local officials.
Specialization
Sutton has worked on federal and state-funded projects involving community economic development, housing and homelessness, health care, local public finance, transportation, law enforcement, and education. Her primary focus has been on survey research and managing multiple databases including developing web-based products for IIRA. She has provided technical assistance to diverse audiences, which includes grant writing and researching information local leaders.
