Daniel D. Voorhis has been the director of Illinois Small Business Development Center at Western University since 1992. He has a Bachelor of Business degree with an Agriculture Mechanization minor from Western Illinois University.
Dan is a Certified Business Specialist, a designation awarded by the Illinois Entrepreneurship and Small Business Growth Association (IESBGA). To maintain that certification, he participates in professional development programs and conferences offered by IESBGA in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and its Illinois Entrepreneurship Network as well as the national Association of Small Business Development Centers.
Employment Experience
Dan was the director of the WIU Technology Commercialization Center from 1986 to 1992. He was co-owner of Lamoine Equipment in Macomb 1972-1985, co-owner of Lamoine Equipment in Rushville 1982-1985, and co-owner of B&D Leasing Company in Macomb 1975-1985. Dan was territory manager for International Harvester Company from 1967 to 1972.
Primary Activities
Dan provides confidential business counseling and training to help entrepreneurs start, grow and sustain their businesses. The Center serves 12 counties in west-central Illinois.
Dan is a member of the Illinois Entrepreneurship and Small Business Growth Association, the Lamoine Valley Human Resource Association, the Illinois Development Council, and Macomb Rotary.
