Carol Stombaugh is a Certified Business Specialist at the Illinois Small Business Development Center.
Carol started with the Illinois Small Business Development Center program in 1988 while working for the City of Monmouth as the Director of the Maple City Business and Technology Center. At that time the SBDC was hosted by the City of Monmouth. Later the Monmouth SBDC became a part of the program offered through Western Illinois University.
Carol joined the Illinois Small Business Development Center staff at Western Illinois University full time in June of 2003.
Responsibilities
Carol provides one on one counseling, business plan development, financial analysis, loan structuring, research and development of materials needed to meet client needs, maintaining of client files, assistance with fiscal management and other related services. She is also responsible for all client reporting for all center counselors through the Webcats system as required by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Carol is also responsible for the development and delivery of a workshop series that is offer throughout our 12 county service area that is based on the "Starting a Business in Illinois" booklet that is provided by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Carol serves as a member of the Carl Sandburg Foundation Board, the Prairie Hills RCD Board, the Lamoine Valley Human Resources Association and the Illinois Entrepreneurship and Small Business Growth Association. Carol is currently serving on the Committee for the national conference for the Association of Small Business Development Centers as a representative for the State of Illinois.
